World Family Club members truly are a family—a World Family. Recently, I attended the DWE graduation ceremony in Seoul, Korea. If you didn’t know, World Family operates in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Over the years I have met graduates from all four places, and I always feel a deep sense of connection. There is a similarity among the children and their parents that warms my heart—especially when all the children sing ONE WORLD and The Thank You Song. In those moments it feels like we are all the same—that there are no borders or boundaries—just One World.

The ceremony in Korea shared many of the same elements as the ceremony held in Japan: certificates, trophies, proud parents, songs, and lots of smiles. Because there is no Disneyland park in Seoul, the event was held in a hall. Mickey did not make an appearance and there was no dinner, but there were games, prizes, and plenty of joy. I could feel the sense of pride shared by the children and their parents, and I was truly impressed by the graduates’ speeches. They spoke about topics such as climate change, health, family—and my personal favorite, the perfect meal. Even though I had never met these children before, I felt as if I knew them through our World Family connection. I am so proud of all of them.

I am always amazed that World Family children all over Asia speak English so well. Children as young as five or six can communicate confidently in English. I believe World Family children are the future of the world. Not only do they speak English alongside their native language—they truly communicate. They speak not only with their mouths, but also with their hearts and their minds.

It was also fun speaking with the WFC teachers and hearing about their experiences, which mirror those of World Family teachers everywhere, regardless of the country where they work. Of course, we all speak English—but we also speak “World Family-ish.” Let it Shine! Follow Your Dream! Love and help each other! It’s OK to be different! One World Family!

I dream of the day when we hold a graduation ceremony that brings together children from Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan. Imagine hundreds of children standing together, singing the same songs, sharing the same dreams, and celebrating the same journey. In that moment, language would not divide us—it would unite us.

When I think about that day, I feel hopeful about the future. These children are growing up with open hearts, curious minds, and the ability to communicate with people from different cultures. They are learning something far more important than just English—they are learning how to connect with the world.

And perhaps that is the greatest lesson of all: when children learn to understand one another, the world truly becomes One World.

Hi, boys and girls! Hi, Moms and Dads! You know we are all a World Family. The World Family Club members are s world family. Recently, I went to Seoul, Korea for the DWE Graduation. If you don’t know, World Family Club is in Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan. I have met graduates from all of those countries, and we all share something that’s the same. That’s so wonderful. We sing the same song. We learn the same stories. We’re all on the same journey. And I feel such a connection to all of the children, especially when we sing “One World.” “We are one world. We are family. One World Family! One World Family! We are one world. We are family.”

“Let It Shine!”“Follow Your Dream!”“Love and help each other!”“It’s OK to be different!”“One World Family!”
